In 2016 there were more than 7 million car crashes reported by police in the United States alone. After making sure all passengers are taken care of, emergency responders have to collect evidence from what may be a crime scene. This process used to take hours, but police departments are turning to a new technology to speed things up: drones. The use of drones has reduced the time it takes to map a crash scene from hours to minutes. Using a technique called photogrammetry, aer...ial scans can then be used to create a 3D model of the crash scene, which can be reviewed later as evidence.
