In these situations, my brain is literally processing about 500 things at once 🤯 • On set I am one, singular person as I stand in my Jordans but metaphysically I am the choreographer, DP, camera operator, director, co-light designer, set designer, editor, and dance mom on each shoot. It’s a constant state of balancing the present and the future. Sometimes I get lost somewhere in between. In the moment, I’m making sure I’m paying attention to as many details on the camera monitor as possible. It’s so important that I’m articulating any notes and feedback to the dancers after each take. I am constantly thinking ahead - making sure that the present and the future will reconcile. I put a lot of pressure on myself and what I’m doing in the moment to make sure it will fulfill my vision of the future/finished product. • Pressure. There’s a lot of it. But, I take on all of it because I believe in my visions and the voice it gives the fierce females who join me. I do it because I believe in strong women. I believe in inclusivity and empowerment. I believe in the experience. I do it to help myself and others get through and heal from the shittiest parts of life by way of self-expression and healthy escapism. I do it because I love seeing others ignited by their own untapped boldness that they knew was there all along but just needed some help letting it loose. • It’s a lot of pressure but it’s worth more than words can describe.
