Using #TidalFace and #TidalFlow together - the perfect combination for
Using #TidalFace and #TidalFlow together - the perfect combination for a unique single-app experience: Most of you know that ConnectIQ watch faces are limited in terms of user interaction: it is not possible to interact with them in terms of menus or other screens on the watch. You can configure a watch face through mobile apps and Express, but that is where it stops.
Widgets on the other hand offer more interactivity and presentation opportunities. Because you cannot intera...ct with a watch face, there is only so much that can be displayed on the tiny screen of a watch. With TidalFace, you can only see the previous and next tide extremes (low and high tide times). Lets say you would like to see the tides for the whole day with respect to sunrise and sunset, this is when you realize the limitation of watch faces: you simply cannot display any additional information at the press of a button. Enter TidalFlow... TidalFlow is a widget that shows the day's tides with respect to sunrise and sunset. It shows 4 tide extremes as opposed to only 2 extremes with TidalFace, giving you a much more enhanced view of the day's tides. All you need to do is make sure that the TidalFlow widget appears adjacent to the watch face in the widget carousel. I recommend that TidalFlow be the first widget that scrolls into view when you press the Up button from the watch face. This way you can immediately access TidalFlow from TidalFace by pressing a single button (or swiping down on the vivoactive 3 series). Another advantage of this setup is that both TidalFace and TidalFlow retrieve data from the same web service. This contributes to a very unique and complimentary experience between the two apps, and it will feel as if you are using a single app! In the attached screenshots you can see how the data in TidalFlow (graph) corresponds to that of TidalFace (big clock). In TidalFace, the next tide extreme is low tide at 15:06, but it is not possible to tell the next tide after that. This is when you can simply scroll up to the TidalFlow widget, and be presented with a much more detailed view! Please share your thoughts and experiences and let me know how it works for you! If this adds value to your #Garmin #ConnectIQ experience, please kindly consider a donation. This helps keep the service free for everybody. 展开
